Wine Country Divas

Wine Country Restaurants

Here are some of the place's you can find us.

Murphy's Irish Pub
aka The Pub

This is one of the places where we just seem to end up. On days when we escape for lunch and there's so much to talk about that we forget to say "Hey, where are we going today?", the car automatically takes us to The Pub. As seen on our recipe page, this is where the now infamous drink was named after us, the Donnalora. We don't need a menu here at The Pub , and they almost never ask what we're ordering because we nearly always get Fish Tacos! That's not to say they don't have other yummy good pub grub, like fish and chips,  marinated mushrooms appetizers, yum yum,  clam strips, popcorn chicken, hey wait, they have their menu right on their website. Go check it out!
Oh, there's also knitting night, the first and third Monday of each month. Bring your yarn and have a cider!

La Casa and Bar

When we need a margarita, it's La Casa we head to. It's not so much about the food, it's about the tequila and the view. And the nachos and the salsa and the cheese soup....
Mostly a tourist spot, but it's fun to  sit upstairs in the window and watch the kids tour the mission and be glad we're not 10 anymore. Margaritas, a definite bonus for being a "responsible grown up". Also a good place for dinner.

Broadway Market

This is where we go on rainy days, days when we don't have a lot of time, bad hair days and days when we want to be pretty casual and eat in the car.  (See our Broadway Market Construction Worker Watching Picnic in Your Car procedure) The deli is great! You can pick exactly what you want on your sandwich and they always get it right, plus they have just about everything else you could possibly need. This is where the local trade workers and high school students like to go to for lunch, so if you don't like a crowd, wait until after 1 or so. But we like the scenery. Hubba hubba.

Mary's Pizza Shack
aka Mary's

Oh, yeah, the meatball sandwich! Add a house salad with amazing Mary's Italian dressing and a whiskey old fashion, and it's one of the best lunches in town. They also have their menu on their website so we don't need to re-list it here but if you're not in to meatballs, try a pizza. They have the best in town, if not the world. Our favorite Diva combo? Pepperoni, garlic (heavy), pineapple and tomatoes. Someday it'll be named The Diva, wait and see!
They also deliver... Which we take advantage of on hectic days at the office. Just plan on 45 minutes for delivery.

the girl & the fig

My personal very favorite special restaurant in town. This is where I go on my birthday or Mother's Day or Tuesday or Wednesday or... sometimes just to sit at the bar and be happy. I love the food, the figs, the mismatched yellow chairs, the figs, the green spiralys everywhere, the figs, the lighting, the logo, and even the Barbie on the girls bathroom door. This is MY place. Check out the menu on their site. I'm dreaming of figs.

Deuce Restaurant

This is the place we set up dinner parties with all our friends. You just feel special here. There's a room we love to get with a big table to fit everyone we love, plus a few we don't. There's also a nice outdoor seating area, which is always a plus. Not to mention the menu. And the bar.
Reservations recommended.

Steiner's Tavern
aka Steiners
aka Sam's (only by the Divas)

Wait, this isn't a restaurant? Oh well, you still might find us here at lunch. They do have chips, pretzels and cherries you can eat. Here's a tip: If you're low on cash and patience, sit at the bar and tell some wild stories about yourself. At least 3 guys will buy you a drink. And for the drinks you can't/shouldn't down then and there, you can get a cute little poker chip to take with you for next time. Oh, this probably only works if you're a girl. We like this place.
